Saddened and in Prayer



This morning, I wanted to share my excitement over finishing the cover painting for the Spring Edition and make light comments about how the Cover Art Contest was going along, but I find myself too saddened to make light.


It is times like these that I feel helpless. My pastor has been in contact with our missionaries in Ukraine overnight. The church families had been evacuated, but some had stayed behind to protect the church. There is also a children's home in another area run by the same missionary group. We do not know if everyone there has been evacuated, but it is close to the fighting and they are unable to be contacted. Those who were left are afraid and unsure of their ability to escape. I type to you at this moment in tears for our brothers and sisters, both in Ukraine AND in Russia. My heart is breaking for them. They are family.


So today I will use the only weapon that I have at my disposal. Prayer. Prayers for protection. Prayers for an end to the fighting. Prayers for those forced to fight. Prayers for the families of those already lost.


Some may give in to the fear of the unknown future that this act has pushed us into, but I find solace in the fact that if our Lord took me today, it would be gain, not loss. Uncertainty is God's job, not mine.

If I am being honest, things in my personal life lately have been pretty stressful. People I love were having major surgery, friends of mine are hurting, my kiddos were sick, and in the last week, 3 women close to me have either had a baby, are actively having a baby, or are trying to save their pregnancy. Realm Makers Conference

I missed you guys last week! The conference took all of my focus and energy. I went. I saw. I talked and talked and talked and talked...you get the idea. Being an extrovert wading in a sea of introverts, I must admit to being rather intimidated. Not that I don't know how to talk to introverted individuals (my husband is a super introvert after all), but it usually takes some time for people to warm up to my rather boisterous personality. I tried to curb my enthusiasm so as not to frighten people away and waste what little time I had with each person. I focused on making every interaction count by both being myself (not some sort of marketing robot) and offering what I could to help/support their business. If you missed it, being an author is a small business and if you know me you know that I LOVE supporting small businesses. And there I was, SURROUNDED by small businesses that I could help. I am pleased to say that the Book Cosplay Contest is in full swing, but of course we could always use more entrants (You have until July 31, 2021)!
