The end of the month is headed toward us like an oncoming train. Again, I would like to give a couple of reminders. Voting for the Best Bookstagram Contest and Submissions for the Cover Art Contest will close Tuesday, May 31st. We have some fun starting June 1st, but you can read about that below. ALSO, I wanted to again offer Clean Fiction Author buttons to all of our wonderful featured authors. If for some reason you cannot send $5 for shipping and handling, I will still send you a button! Now with that out of the way, I want to talk a little about the coming Memorial Day Weekend. I hope all of you have fun plans with family or friends to get together and eat delicious food. During the festivities could you give a moment of pause for those who gave their lives in active military service to protect our country? I know that some misunderstand the holiday and choose to honor veterans, who definitely deserve to be honored, but Memorial Day was to be celebrated as a memory of those who were lost. So, I would like to take this particular moment to thank the families and friends that survive those who gave their lives so that I could live in a country where I can be a Christian openly, without the threat of death or damage. Your sacrifice and the sacrifice of those who continue on without you in their lives is recognized and honored. Thank you.

Submissions Open June 1st



The painting above is what I prefer to call a “Window”. In a way paintings, photos, and other visual arts are “Windows” into another space. Whether it is the artist’s mind or a recreation of an actual place, these “Windows” allow us to pause for a moment and see someone else’s view.


Why the “Multiverse” then? Many authors use paintings, photos, and other visual arts in order to write fantastical stories of different places, times, and planets. When you look at the painting above, where do you go? A water planet on the outreaches of space? The high seas on a pirate vessel? A mysterious island full of secrets? This “Window” can lead anywhere your imagination can create.


What the Contest Entails: You are asked to write a micro-story beginning with “Through the window I saw...” using the painting above as inspiration. The only restriction on your creativity is that you keep your micro-story clean. Though, if you have decided to read Clean Fiction magazine, I would imagine that this would not be at all limiting for you.


Submissions will open June 1st, 2022 and end June 30th, 2022. Please keep your submission to 1,000 words or less. Send your micro-story, your name as you would like it to appear, genre of the story, social media handle/website, and an email for contact purposes to info@cleanfictionmagazine.com. We will not use your micro-stories without your permission, and the winner/s will be sent a page/s for approval. The winner/s will appear in our September 20th, 2022 Autumn Edition along with the image on this page. They will also receive an author feature to go along with their micro-story (a $40 value).


Depending on the number of submissions we receive, there will be either winners in several genre categories OR an overall winner. Each winner or the overall winner will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card and an author feature. The winner/s will be decided by the Clean Fiction staff and excerpts may be used for promotional purposes.

Realm Makers Conference

I missed you guys last week! The conference took all of my focus and energy. I went. I saw. I talked and talked and talked and talked...you get the idea. Being an extrovert wading in a sea of introverts, I must admit to being rather intimidated. Not that I don't know how to talk to introverted individuals (my husband is a super introvert after all), but it usually takes some time for people to warm up to my rather boisterous personality. I tried to curb my enthusiasm so as not to frighten people away and waste what little time I had with each person. I focused on making every interaction count by both being myself (not some sort of marketing robot) and offering what I could to help/support their business. It's a Beautiful Day

If I am being honest, things in my personal life lately have been pretty stressful. People I love were having major surgery, friends of mine are hurting, my kiddos were sick, and in the last week, 3 women close to me have either had a baby, are actively having a baby, or are trying to save their pregnancy. I don't know how you deal with stress, but even though I am worlds better at it than I once was, I am not great at it. Others' pain and hardship weigh on me as if it were my own. Lately, I have been floundering under the weight, but in the midst of the hardest day, God sent me a smile in the shape of a young boy singing a song. And now I want to share the words with you because I am well aware that as long as we live in this world and not the next, we will have strife and hardship. I hope that everyone is having a great week and happy Wednesday to you all! I am pleased to say that the Book Cosplay Contest is in full swing, but of course we could always use more entrants (You have until July 31, 2021)!
